Silent Samurai: a Japanese-themed slot with a red-or-black gamble

Silent Samurai dresses a plain five-reel slot in Japanese style. The logo sits on a dark bar with gold dragons at each end, and the reels are cream paper with symbols in brush-stroke lettering.

What's on the reels

The card ranks A, K, J and 10 are painted in purple, red, gold and blue brush strokes. A kanji character in the top-left position acts as another symbol. The standout picture symbol is a black-and-gold emblem with a red three-part swirl in the middle, shown here on reels 2, 3 and 4.

The line tabs run down both sides in gold.

The bet panel

At the bottom: CURRENT BALANCE (42.06), LINES (9) with minus and plus buttons, BET (0.09) and a WIN box, with START on the right. Nine lines at 0.09 means a cent a line. If you add more lines, the total bet climbs with them.

The gamble

After a win the screen in the screenshot above appears. The whole panel is framed by a red torii gate with gold dragons on the side pillars. BET shows 0.10, DOUBLE TO 0.20, and the prompt reads "SELECT RED OR BLACK". The card back carries a red double-happiness pattern, which is Chinese rather than Japanese, a small sign that the art mixes styles.

COLLECT keeps what you have. Guess the colour right and the win doubles; guess wrong and it's gone.

Who it suits
