5 Koi: lucky characters, red packets and a card gamble

5 Koi is one of the Asian-themed slots in the ACE333 lobby. It sits on a deep purple background with a row of pink lotus flowers along the top of the reels, and most of its picture symbols are round medallions carrying a single Chinese character.

The old page for this game had nothing in it but three screenshots, so everything below comes from those images and one extra capture. Where the pictures don't show something, like the return to player or how the side panels pay, we leave it out.

What's on the reels

Five reels, three rows. The low symbols are the card ranks 9, 10, J, Q, K and A, each with a small decoration. The medallions are the ones to watch: a pink 福 labelled Good Luck, a blue 财 labelled Wealth, a green 禄 labelled Prosperity and a red 吉 labelled Lucky. Pairs of red packets (ang pow) also turn up as a picture symbol.

The golden koi, the game's namesake, lands on reel 3 in the capture above. The message bar reads "You won Three J = 1.00" and the win box on the right shows 1.00. The "Sensational!! That's Incredible!!!!" line sounds big, but it showed up for both of the small wins we captured (the other was 0.25 for three 10s).

The bet panel and jackpot boxes

Along the bottom: Current Balance on the left, then purple minus and plus buttons around a Bet box set to 1.25, with the spin controls to the right. Above the reels sit three counters, MAJOR, RANDOM and MINOR. Their figures changed between every screenshot, which tells you they are live pools rather than fixed prizes.

The gamble screen

Tap the spade-shaped GAMBLE button after a win and you get this screen. The card in the middle is face down with a koi on its back. Pick RED or BLACK to double the amount, or one of the four suits to quadruple it. A History tab shows recent cards. TAKE WIN banks the amount and returns you to the reels.

It is simple and quick, and that is the risk. Gambling small wins over and over tends to hand them back.
